PM Modi Unveils Mega ₹9,400 Crore Infrastructure Projects Across Telangana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is driving a massive economic surge in Telangana and Karnataka with the launch of transformative projects worth over ₹9,400 crore on May 10. These initiatives promise to reshape infrastructure, industrial growth, railways, and healthcare, accelerating development in one of India’s key economic corridors.
The Prime Minister’s visit began in Bengaluru at around 11 AM, attending the 45th anniversary of The Art of Living and the 70th birthday of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Modi inaugurated the new Dhyan Mandir meditation hall, a landmark for spiritual wellness, and launched nationwide service campaigns targeting mental health, rural progress, and environmental conservation.
Major Road and Industrial Projects in Telangana
In Hyderabad, Modi spearheaded the launch of critical infrastructure with a focus on connectivity and industrial expansion. The headline project is the four-laning of National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar costing more than ₹3,175 crore. This key stretch under the Hyderabad–Panaji Economic Corridor will slash travel time by 90 minutes while cutting fuel consumption and maintenance costs, boosting cross-state trade between Telangana and Karnataka.
Further strengthening industrial capacity, Modi laid the foundation stone for the sprawling Zaheerabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district. Spanning 3,245 acres and costing upwards of ₹2,350 crore, the industrial zone is embedded in the Hyderabad–Nagpur Industrial Corridor framework. Its prime location along NH-65 will link ports, rail, airports, and urban hubs, attracting investments estimated near ₹10,000 crore and generating thousands of jobs in sectors like automobiles, machinery, and food processing.
Textile Sector Boost with Warangal’s PM MITRA Park
Highlighting Telangana’s emerging textile industry, Modi inaugurated the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, India’s first fully operational PM MITRA textile park developed at a cost of around ₹1,700 crore. This ultra-modern facility connects seamlessly to the proposed Nagpur–Vijayawada Expressway and NH-163, supporting India’s “5F” supply chain vision — Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. The park boasts sustainable infrastructure, including a zero liquid discharge effluent treatment plant, positioning Telangana as a key textile export hub.
Railway and Energy Upgrades to Speed Development
Modi also dedicated railway projects worth approximately ₹1,535 crore, including parts of the Kazipet–Vijayawada multi-tracking project over 118 kilometres. This large-scale upgrade will increase line capacity on the busy Grand Trunk route, enhancing passenger speed and freight efficiency. The Kazipet Rail Under Rail Bypass was inaugurated to ease congestion at the junction, enabling simultaneous train operations to major destinations and minimizing delays.
Energy infrastructure received a major boost with the dedication of Indian Oil’s Greenfield Terminal in Malkapur, Hyderabad. Built at a cost exceeding ₹600 crore, the terminal expands petroleum storage capacity to 165,000 kilolitres and increases fuel supply reliability across Telangana and surrounding states.
State-of-the-Art Healthcare Facility Debuts in Hyderabad
In a landmark step for healthcare, Modi inaugurated the Sindhu Hospital, a cutting-edge cancer-focused multi-super specialty hospital. The not-for-profit facility spans 2.1 million square feet over 18 floors, housing 1,500 beds, 29 operation theatres, and over 150 consultation rooms. It will provide advanced treatments including chemotherapy, radiation, and bone marrow transplants, serving as a vital resource in the fight against cancer in Telangana and beyond.
“These projects reflect a concerted effort towards ‘Viksit Telangana for Viksit Bharat’, aiming at integrated infrastructure, industrial growth, healthcare advancement, and seamless connectivity,” government officials stated.
This slew of high-impact initiatives is poised to reshape Telangana’s economy, generate thousands of jobs, and improve the quality of life for millions, bolstering the state’s position as a major industrial and transport hub.
