Chatfield Wrestling Teams Dominate Day One of Bi-State Classic

UPDATE: The Chatfield boys and girls wrestling teams have made a stunning impact on the first day of the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse, Wisconsin, wrapping up December 29, 2025, with remarkable performances. The girls team finished the day with an impressive 195 points, securing the highest overall score among all teams, while the boys team claimed second place with 176.5 points out of 68 boys teams.

The Chatfield girls showcased their dominance as Melody Ward (100 lbs), Maizee Priebe (114 lbs), Elle Eickhoff (145 lbs), and Eve Goetzinger (165 lbs) all advanced to the semifinals. Priebe and Eickhoff each achieved four pins, leading the Gophers into the next round with momentum.

On the boys side, top-ranked wrestler Joey Cady at 107 lbs spearheaded the team’s efforts, amassing 30 points with four consecutive pins to secure his spot in Tuesday’s semifinals. Cady is joined by teammates Logan Pearson (126 lbs) and Kaisen Johnson (132 lbs), both of whom delivered strong performances to reach the semifinals as well.

In an exciting turn of events, Cannon Falls/Randolph also had three wrestlers make it to Tuesday’s semifinals: Garrett Williams (106 lbs), Owen Parish (113 lbs), and Adam Parish (132 lbs). Meanwhile, Zumbrota-Mazeppa’s Carl Murray advanced at 120 lbs after a narrow 1-0 decision victory over Chatfield’s Jameson Priebe in the quarterfinals. Goodhue’s Hayden Holm also secured a semifinal spot at 150 lbs for the Wildcats.
