In a commanding performance, the Presbyterian College Blue Hose triumphed over Stetson University with a decisive score of 42-7 on October 7, 2023. This victory marks the team’s seventh consecutive win this season, maintaining their perfect record at 7-0 and improving their Pioneer Football League (PFL) standing to 3-0.
Justin Montgomery was a standout player for Presbyterian, rushing for three touchdowns during the game. His contributions helped the Blue Hose establish a dominant lead, scoring 35 unanswered points before the fourth quarter. Montgomery opened the scoring with two touchdowns, showcasing his speed and agility on the field.
The game saw a solid performance from starting quarterback Collin Hurst, who threw for 236 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown pass to Cincere Gill in the second quarter. Following Montgomery’s third touchdown and a score from Antonio Wright in the third quarter, the Blue Hose appeared unstoppable.
As the game progressed, Ty Englehart stepped in as quarterback and capped off the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, bringing the final score to 42-7. Montgomery finished the game with 54 yards on eight rushing attempts, solidifying his role as a key player in the Blue Hose’s offensive strategy.
Stetson, now at 3-5 overall and 2-2 in PFL play, managed to score in the fourth quarter when Cayden Betts caught a 26-yard pass from quarterback Gunnar Chenier. Despite this late effort, the game was largely dominated by Presbyterian, who has consistently scored over 40 points in all four of their home games this season.
The Blue Hose’s victory not only reinforces their undefeated status but also sets a strong tone for the remainder of the season as they aim for continued success in the PFL.
