Main Line Health Launches Psychiatry Residency Hub at Bryn Mawr

Main Line Health has inaugurated a new centralized Psychiatry Residency Program at Bryn Mawr Hospital, significantly enhancing mental health training and access to care. This initiative marks the first in-house residency program for the health system and is located in the Founder’s Building at 101 S. Bryn Mawr Ave. The new facility integrates psychology, psychotherapy services, and psychiatry residents in an accredited program by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

The establishment of this residency hub follows the transition of psychiatry residents from Crozer Health, which recently closed. By consolidating various mental health services and trainees in one location, Main Line Health aims to create a collaborative learning environment while expanding access to vital psychiatric care for the local community.

Brittni Jones, DO, serves as the Program Director, emphasizing the program’s focus on hands-on clinical experience tailored to the needs of the community. The curriculum incorporates rotations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, covering numerous specialties, including addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and emergency psychiatry.

The new suite houses a team of eight psychologists and psychotherapists, alongside five resident psychiatrists: Kenneth Wee and Robert Duprey, both in their fourth year of residency, and Asa Thompson, Reema Patel, and Zita Jones, who are in their third year. Officially opening on December 8, 2023, the facility is now accepting new patients, reflecting Main Line Health’s commitment to addressing the growing demand for mental health services.

Health system officials have indicated that this dedicated space not only advances their broader growth strategy but also aims to enhance continuity of care. By providing high-quality psychiatric services closer to home, the initiative seeks to support physician training and improve patient outcomes across the Main Line region.

The opening of the Psychiatry Residency Hub at Bryn Mawr Hospital represents a significant step forward in mental health care, aligning with the increasing recognition of the importance of mental health services in community health systems.
