URGENT UPDATE: The United States Postal Service (USPS) will remain operational on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, despite the federal government being closed. This comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order declaring December 24 and December 26 as federal holidays for 2025 only.
While most federal employees enjoy an extended holiday, USPS will continue regular mail delivery services today. Local post offices will be open, but customers should verify specific hours as they may vary by location. Notably, all post offices will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25, with mail delivery pausing for that day. Normal services will resume on December 26.
In addition to USPS, major shipping companies UPS and FedEx will also have altered operations on Christmas Eve. UPS has confirmed that while all delivery services will be available, including Express Critical services, pickup for Air and International Air services is only possible if prearranged by December 18, 2025. Ground service pickups will not be available today. Meanwhile, FedEx will operate with modified services, closing FedEx Freight but keeping FedEx stores open on adjusted hours.
This holiday season, it’s essential for customers to plan accordingly. Both UPS and FedEx advise checking with local stores for specific operating hours during this busy holiday weekend.
As many prepare to celebrate, the impact of these operational decisions is significant. With USPS ensuring continued mail delivery services, families and businesses can rely on timely communications and shipments during this festive time.
Stay tuned for further updates as the holiday unfolds.
