UPDATE: In a significant boost for the USC football program, all five starting offensive linemen are set to return for the 2026 season. Right guard Alani Noa has officially re-signed, completing the lineup alongside left tackle Elijah Paige, left guard Tobias Raymond, center Kilian O’Connor, and right tackle Justin Tauanuu. This announcement was made on the USC football program’s official social media channels on Tuesday afternoon.
This news is crucial as it solidifies the chemistry among the offensive line, which struggled through constant shuffling last season. Offensive lineman Tobias Raymond emphasized the importance of returning players, stating, “You don’t have to necessarily start over. It’s already there, so you can build on it and keep growing.” With these five key players returning, the Trojans aim to enhance their performance after deploying six different offensive line combinations last season while still achieving one of the most efficient offenses in the Big Ten Conference.
This continuity is particularly vital for quarterback Jayden Maiava, who also confirmed his return for next season. In 2025, Maiava led the Big Ten with 3,711 yards and 24 touchdowns, showcasing his potential with an average of 285.46 yards per game despite facing challenges with offensive line changes. The return of the full starting unit could significantly enhance his performance and the overall offensive output, which averaged 465.5 yards of total offense per game.
In addition to the linemen, USC has secured two new transfers for their special teams unit. Long snapper Dylan Black and punter Lachlan Carrigan have both committed to the Trojans from Memphis. Black will join rising redshirt senior Devin McDonough and sophomore Luke Brown, filling the void left by the departed long snapper Hank Pepper. Carrigan averaged 43.2 yards per punt last season, with 20 of his kicks landing inside the 20-yard line.
In a bittersweet update, receiver Jaden Richardson has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, announcing his decision on social media. Richardson expressed gratitude for his time at USC, stating, “This journey hasn’t looked like the traditional path, and that’s what makes it special.” He recorded 12 receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown during his senior season, highlighting his contributions to the team.
As the Trojans gear up for next season, they face the challenge of replacing key players. With the departures of receivers Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane to the draft, along with transfers Prince Strachan and DJ Jordan, the team has added receiver Terrell Anderson from North Carolina State to bolster their ranks.
As USC prepares for the upcoming season, the retention of their offensive line and strategic new additions could be pivotal. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how these developments unfold in the coming months.
