UPDATE: Tuesday Musical has just announced that applications for its prestigious 2026 scholarship competition are now open! Interested musicians can apply online until February 1, 2026, for a chance to secure a portion of the $41,550 in scholarships available this year.
This year’s competition marks a significant milestone as it celebrates 70 years of supporting aspiring music educators and performers. The Akron-based organization is offering 29 scholarships, with individual amounts ranging from $750 to $2,000. Music performance and music education majors who are Ohio residents or studying under an Ohio-based music teacher are encouraged to apply.
The competition covers various categories, including music education, brass, classical guitar, organ, piano, percussion, strings, voice, and woodwinds. Notably, there have been updates to the repertoire requirements in the percussion category, which now includes options beyond just marimba and steel pan. Additionally, the second-place organ scholarship, introduced last year, has been elevated to $1,500.
Candidates will compete in an adjudicated competition on March 21, 2026, at the University of Akron, with organists showcasing their skills at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron. First- and second-place winners will be invited to the final round on May 3, 2026, where they will compete for two additional scholarships and a coveted people’s choice award.
