Urgent Notice: Moira T. Lewis, 77, Passes Away in Seabrook

UPDATE: Moira T. Lewis, aged 77, has passed away in Seabrook, New Hampshire, as confirmed by family sources. Her death occurred on October 18, 2025, leaving a profound impact on her loved ones and the community.

Born on April 27, 1948, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Moira was the cherished daughter of the late William and Margaret (Shanahan) McCarthy. A proud graduate of Keith Hall High School, she furthered her education with a B.S. in Education from Salem Teachers College. Moira dedicated her early career to teaching at Lowell High School until 1984, shaping young minds with her passion for education.

In a remarkable career shift, Moira transitioned to civilian service with the U.S. Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base, where she contributed to research and laboratory development until her retirement in 2012 at the GS-9 level. Those who knew her will remember her quick wit and her infectious love for animals, as well as her spirited enthusiasm for Halloween.

Moira’s legacy continues through her loving husband of 53 years, M. Douglas Lewis, and her brother, William J. McCarthy, Jr., along with his wife, Phyllis. She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Kathleen McDonough and William J. McCarthy III, and her brother-in-law, Pastor Michael L. Lewis, and his wife, Cathy.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, located at 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, located at PO Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.
