Upper Darby Firefighters Deliver 40 Thanksgiving Food Boxes Today

UPDATE: Upper Darby firefighters are making a significant impact this Thanksgiving by delivering over 40 boxes of food to families in need. The event took place earlier today at the Cardington fire station, where firefighters and their families came together to ensure local families can enjoy a festive meal.

This initiative, organized by retired Chief Ed Cubler, a lifelong fireman from Upper Darby, showcases the community spirit that thrives in this area. For decades, Cubler has dedicated his efforts to collecting and distributing Thanksgiving food baskets, and today’s event marked another successful year of his commitment.

Members of the Upper Darby Fire Department, part of IAFF Local 2493, collaborated with their new Fire Chief Nick Martin to assemble and deliver the food boxes. Josh Laubach, the Shop Steward for IAFF Local 2493, confirmed that the team quickly delivered the boxes filled with full meals and additional items to ensure families can celebrate the holiday properly.

“This is what we do—provide support to our community, especially during the holidays,” Laubach stated. “It’s essential for us to give back and help those who may be struggling.”

The food boxes included everything needed for a traditional Thanksgiving meal, reflecting the firefighters’ commitment to community welfare. The urgency of this event highlights the increasing need for support within the community during the holiday season.

As more families face challenges this year, the efforts of the Upper Darby firefighters resonate deeply, reminding us all of the importance of community and compassion. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, initiatives like this are crucial for ensuring no one is left behind.

Moving forward, the Upper Darby Fire Department plans to continue its efforts in community service, aiming to expand their outreach and support to even more families in the upcoming years. Stay tuned for more updates on their initiatives and community impact.
