Born in Meri, Messina, Sicily on March 26, 1937, Maimone emigrated to the United States in 1971, settling in Schenectady, New York. He was a dedicated mason with Local 190 in Albany and an active member of the Sons of Italy on Hamburg Street, contributing to the community he loved.
Salvatore, affectionately known as “Sal,” was married to his beloved wife, Antonina, from 1957 until her passing in 2006. He is survived by his children, Giuseppe and Orazio Maimone, along with grandchildren Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto. His family also includes a sister, Anna, residing in Italy, and several great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
A calling hour is scheduled for Monday, December 29th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Following the calling hour, a funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. Salvatore will then be interred at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
