New Grateful Harvest Community Garden Launches in Pottstown

UPDATE: A transformative new community initiative, the Grateful Harvest Community Garden, has officially launched in Pottstown thanks to a powerful partnership between First Presbyterian Church and Trellis for Tomorrow. This garden, located at 750 N. Evans Street, will provide fresh produce, educational opportunities, and foster connections among local residents.

Grand opening festivities took place on October 26, featuring garden tours and community engagement activities. The project, bolstered by funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), is designed to be a hub for sustainable food production and community interaction.

The Grateful Harvest Community Garden will consist of 15 rentable beds, including accessible plots with drip irrigation and deer fencing, dedicated to growing nutrient-rich food for local donations. Beginning in 2026, residents can rent these plots through Trellis’ Food for All program.

The Grateful Harvest Community Garden is an extension of our faith in action,” stated Susan Moyer, Mission Committee Chair at First Presbyterian Church. “It reflects our values of service, stewardship, and neighborliness.”

In the interim, volunteer-led harvests will provide fresh produce to food access programs throughout the borough, addressing critical food security issues. “Working towards a system of food security and sustainability requires respect, collaboration, and the cultivation of collective resilience,” emphasized Jennifer Anderson, Executive Director of Trellis for Tomorrow.

This new garden is not just about food; it’s about empowering individuals and building community. Trellis for Tomorrow will supply seedlings, tools, and educational support, using the garden as a space for skill-building and deeper engagement with local food systems.

With a rich history of promoting compassionate service for over 177 years, First Presbyterian Church continues to play a vital role in the community. This latest initiative is a testament to their ongoing commitment to civic engagement and food justice.

Residents are encouraged to get involved and learn more about renting a garden bed or volunteering for the upcoming season in 2026. For details, visit www.trellis4tomorrow.org or www.fpcpottstown.org.

This exciting development not only aims to enhance local food security but also strengthens community ties, making Pottstown a more resilient place to live. Stay tuned for more updates on this inspiring project!
