Users can browse deals, select what they like, and “call dibs” by paying just 10% of the deal’s value upfront, with the remainder due when they visit the business. The idea for Dibbs emerged during challenging times for the Arcigas. After experiencing the fallout from the 2017 Tubbs Fire that destroyed Emmanuel’s sporting goods store, the brothers decided to create a platform that genuinely supports small businesses. “I knew exactly what it felt like to be in their shoes,” Emmanuel stated, underscoring the app’s community-focused ethos.
Currently, the brothers are enhancing the app’s functionality and user experience while it remains in beta. They are also integrating AI technology to streamline the redemption process for businesses. “It’s like a secret menu full of amazing deals,” Jj added, emphasizing the exclusivity of the offers available on Dibbs.
Both brothers have complementary skills, with Emmanuel focusing on development and operations, while Jj is dedicated to business onboarding and community engagement. “It’s been a great learning experience,” Emmanuel said, noting the strength of their partnership despite their age difference of 13 years.
As Dibbs continues to grow, the Arcigas envision expanding its reach beyond Chico to cities throughout California and eventually nationwide. “If we can make it work in Chico, we can make it work anywhere,” Emmanuel affirmed.
