Lorraine F. Lease, 94, Passes Away at St. Luke’s Hospice

BREAKING: Lorraine F. Lease, aged 94, has passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem on January 9, 2026. This beloved educator and dedicated community volunteer left a lasting impact on those around her.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Lorraine was a cherished wife to the late George M. Lease, who died on February 22, 2003. She dedicated over 30 years to teaching, primarily serving in the Bethlehem Area School District for 20 years. Lorraine graduated from Kutztown University and furthered her education with a Master’s degree from Lehigh University.

In her retirement, Lorraine and George enjoyed an active lifestyle, participating in tennis, golf, and skiing, along with traveling the world. An avid reader, she loved crossword puzzles and shared her passion for music by singing with the Moravian Village chorus. Lorraine was known for her warm spirit, volunteering for organizations such as Meals on Wheels, the Allentown Art Museum, and the New Bethany soup kitchen.

Lorraine is survived by her sisters Althea Lazun of Bethlehem and Joyce Hess of North Carolina, along with stepdaughters Joan Johnson in Georgia and Susan Baier in Arizona. She leaves behind a large extended family, including 6 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service honoring Lorraine will take place at Central Moravian Chapel on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
