URGENT UPDATE: A fatal shooting in Knoxville has left an 18-year-old male dead as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The shooting occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on Friday on E. Magnolia Avenue, according to officials.
Responding officers from the Knoxville Police Department found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the 2300 block near Olive Street. Despite immediate medical assistance from the scene, the victim was pronounced dead at UT Medical Center. His identity has not yet been released.
Detectives are probing the possibility that the shooting followed an altercation inside a nearby building. As of now, no suspects have been identified or charged in connection with this tragic event.
“The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unconfirmed at this time and remain under investigation,”
stated Scott Erland, spokesperson for the Knoxville Police Department, in a recent news release.
