UPDATE: The highly anticipated Coats for Kids Spooktacular fundraiser is set to launch at 5 p.m. tomorrow, October 24, 2025, at Crying Eagle Brewing in Lake Charles. This year’s event promises an exciting lineup of festival games, raffles, and community spirit, all aimed at supporting children in need.
The Kiwanis Club of Lake Charles has been a vital community force for nearly four decades, and the Spooktacular event is at the heart of its mission. The annual initiative not only collects winter coats for children but also raises funds to benefit 10 local charitable organizations. Last year, the club successfully collected 2,800 coats and raised $42,500 to support those struggling in the community.
Event Chair Miguel Conde expressed confidence in this year’s goal of raising $50,000. He stated, “It’s nice to know that every year, if we grow, our sponsor in the community will rise up and help us do even more.” The funds raised will be distributed evenly among local organizations dedicated to aiding the unhoused and impoverished, including Abraham’s Tent and Oasis Women’s Shelter.
The Spooktacular will feature approximately 30 family-friendly activities, including a bounce house, petting zoo, and pony rides. Attendees can enjoy games like cornhole and washer toss, plus an inflatable mechanical bull suitable for all ages. A special “tiny tots” area will ensure younger children have their own fun space.
As part of the event, those who donate a new or gently used coat will receive a complimentary drinking glass, beverage token, and raffle ticket. The evening culminates with a performance by the Evan Blake Band, alongside a silent auction and more raffles, making this a night of both entertainment and philanthropy.
The Kiwanis Club will continue coat collection until the week before Thanksgiving, with drop-off boxes available at local schools, the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, and various McDonald’s locations throughout the area. Conde highlighted the club’s year-round dedication to uplifting youth through educational partnerships and volunteer efforts by stating, “Southeast Louisiana has lots of needy kids and people who need help. It feels wonderful to do it.”
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to enjoy a festive evening while making a difference in the community. Join the Kiwanis Club at Crying Eagle Brewing tomorrow at 5 p.m. to support a worthy cause.
Make your plans now to participate in this impactful event, and help ensure every child stays warm this winter!
