BREAKING: Inglewood’s Jason Crowe Jr. delivered an electrifying performance, scoring 49 points to lead his team to a 78-71 victory over St. Bernard during the highly anticipated St. Bernard Viking Shore Showdown on July 15, 2025.
The matchup in Playa Del Rey showcased a thrilling duel between Crowe and St. Bernard’s star Brandon Granger, who scored 28 points. The game was tightly contested, with Inglewood holding a slender lead of just one point at halftime. However, Crowe’s explosive third quarter, where he scored nine points in a crucial 12-4 run, propelled the Sentinels to a commanding 17-point lead in the final quarter.
“We built the lead up by playing tough defense,” Crowe stated. “We got up by 17 early in the fourth quarter and we knew they couldn’t come back from there.” His performance brings his career total to an impressive 3,957 points.
Crowe’s scoring spree began early, with eight points in the first quarter and 14 points during the second. Meanwhile, Granger fought valiantly for the Vikings, especially in the second quarter, where he netted 18 points to keep St. Bernard within striking distance, trailing 46-44 at halftime.
Granger expressed his determination, saying, “I just had to stay poised. I knew there was going to be a big crowd. To be able to do this tonight in front of a big crowd means a lot to me.” His resilience was evident, as he also contributed five steals to his team’s efforts.
Inglewood’s victory was not solely dependent on Crowe. Teammate Conerly stepped up, adding crucial points with two three-pointers and an impressive dunk. “J2 really stepped it up in the second half, giving good energy and moving the ball well,” Conerly remarked.
Despite the loss, St. Bernard head coach Bernard McCrumby commended his team’s effort, noting, “Growth and confidence is what I’m seeing from our team. We are just trying to get our kids to believe they can play with anyone.” He anticipates a boost in performance soon, with four transfers set to gain eligibility after a sit-out period.
As the basketball season progresses, all eyes will be on both teams as they aim for further success. Inglewood looks to build on this momentum, while St. Bernard prepares for an exciting comeback with new talent on the horizon.
