URGENT UPDATE: Hillsborough County has just announced a series of festive food pantry events aimed at combating food insecurity this holiday season. In partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay, the county’s Healthy Living Program is stepping in to ensure that residents can celebrate without the stress of hunger.
As food insecurity continues to affect many locals, these events are crucial. Scheduled for November 16, 2023, at the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center and November 17, 2023, at both the Plant City and SouthShore Healthy Living Centers, the program will distribute essential food packages filled with fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples. This initiative is designed to provide ongoing support, with distributions occurring monthly and additional resources available during the holiday months.
Anyone aged 18 or over, regardless of income level, is encouraged to participate. The Healthy Living Program recognizes the urgent need for accessible nutrition and is dedicated to fostering health and wellness in the community.
But the support doesn’t stop at food distribution. Beyond the pantry events, the program is rolling out comprehensive services, including free access to exercise rooms, group fitness classes, and nutrition consultations. Monthly classes will be held at four Healthy Living Centers across the county, ensuring that health resources are available to all who need them.
Residents are urged to take advantage of these offerings. They can either drop by or contact the Healthy Living Program for more information on services available.
Additionally, local organizations such as ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry are also mobilizing to provide essential food and clothing assistance throughout Hillsborough County, underscoring a robust network of support for those in need.
This holiday season, Hillsborough County is determined to ensure that no resident has to face the holidays alone or hungry. The Healthy Living Program is committed to making a meaningful impact, offering not just food, but a sense of community and well-being.
Stay tuned for updates on these events and further initiatives aimed at supporting our community during this critical time.
