BREAKING: Harold (Hal) Warren, a cherished community leader and devoted family man, has passed away at the age of 87. His family confirmed that he peacefully departed on November 29, 2025, at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Johnstown, NJ.
Warren, known for his unwavering commitment to public service and the arts, made immense contributions to his community. Born on July 9, 1938, in Camden, NJ, he graduated from Morristown High School in 1957 and served eight years in the Army National Guard. He held significant roles at Bell Telephone Laboratories and GTE Data Services before dedicating 18 years as a firefighter for the City of Johnstown.
In 1971, Warren founded the Johnstown Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp (JAVAC), a vital service that continues to impact the community today. His passion for music and theater led him to actively participate in local theater groups, including Colonial Little Theater and The Galway Players, where he made a lasting impression.
Warren is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dawn Warren, and their three children: Leslie (Rick) Garber, Heather (Jack) Hladik, and Lindsay Warren. He was a proud grandfather to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy.
The family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home and the SCU for their exceptional care during his final days. They have opted for no formal services, choosing instead to hold a Celebration of Life in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, the Warren family encourages donations to the Brennan Humane Society or the Fulton County Regional SPCA, honoring Harold’s love for animals and community service.
