BREAKING: Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, is set to make a significant leap in its operations with an urgent plan to invest $659 million in a new facility at its data center complex just outside Memphis, Tennessee. During a recent White House event, Gwynne Shotwell, President of SpaceX, revealed that xAI would develop 1.2 gigawatts of power for the supercomputer facility under the administration’s “Ratepayer Protection Pledge.” Shotwell stated, “Currently, we’re building one on the Tennessee-Mississippi state line… xAI will therefore commit to develop 1.2 GW of power as our supercomputer’s primary power source.”
The infrastructure upgrades are poised to have a profound impact on the local economy. Shotwell emphasized that the installation will generate enough backup power to sustain the city of Memphis and the neighboring town of Southaven, Mississippi.
