UPDATE: Denver’s beloved Christkindl Market has officially opened its doors at the new Tivoli Quad on the Auraria Campus, marking a milestone 25th anniversary. The relocation, announced just days ago, provides an expansive venue for over 40 vendors and is expected to attract even more than the 350,000 visitors who attended last year.
This year’s market is buzzing with excitement as vendors showcase traditional European fare and unique crafts. “Everybody’s always hungry for a pretzel,” said Leon Speth, a long-time vendor. Josh Bryant adds to the festive atmosphere with his popular Schmalzkuchen, a classic German donut that has become a staple of the holiday season.
The move from Civic Center Park to the Tivoli Quad has been met with enthusiasm. “Vendors are loving it. We’re seeing that people are really excited to be in this new space,” stated Samantha Seems, executive director of the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado chapter. This larger venue allows for a more comfortable experience, accommodating the growing crowds and enhancing the festive spirit.
Not just limited to food, the market features diverse offerings. Blair Hamill is selling posters depicting scenic national parks and ski resorts, capturing memories for many visitors. “I’m selling art that resonates with people,” he noted, emphasizing the emotional connections created through the artwork.
The community aspect of the market is palpable. “We’re like a family around here,” said Josh Bryant, who has known many vendors for over a decade. The sense of camaraderie among vendors adds to the inviting atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination this holiday season.
The Christkindl Market runs until December 23, and organizers anticipate a surge in attendance. “You meet people from around the world, a lot of European visitors,” Speth shared, highlighting the international flair of the event.
As the market continues to grow, it remains a cherished holiday tradition in Denver, fostering community spirit and joy. Don’t miss out on this festive experience that captures the essence of Christmas. Share the news and plan your visit today!
