Coon Rapids Launches Urgent ‘Season of Giving’ Drive for Charities

UPDATE: Coon Rapids City Hall has just announced the launch of its urgent ‘Season of Giving’ donation drive, starting November 24 and running through December 15. Residents are called to contribute essential items to support local charities and families this holiday season.

Drop off your donations at City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive, where collection bins are available in the front lobby from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This initiative aims to collect non-perishable foods, new and unwrapped toys, winter coats, and toiletries to directly assist those in need within the community.

Among the critical items being sought are high-need goods such as flour, oil, baby food, and toys for older children aged 12-18, including small electronics and gift cards. Specifically, the ACBC Food Shelf is urging donations of staple items to help local families in crisis.

“We are grateful for the community’s support during this season,” said a representative from the City of Coon Rapids. “Every contribution makes a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.”

The Toys for Joy initiative particularly emphasizes the need for new, unwrapped toys, while Alexandra House is requesting winter wear like coats and children’s boots. Meanwhile, Granny’s Closet seeks household and personal care items, such as men’s razors and laundry detergent.

Additional drop-off locations include the Coon Rapids Ice Center, Bunker Hills Golf Club, and all Coon Rapids Fire Stations, which are also accepting toys and food. Each charity has outlined specific needs to ensure that donations are impactful and relevant.

This drive is not just about giving; it’s about strengthening community bonds. The contributions will not only brighten the holidays for recipients but also provide support in their everyday lives.

A comprehensive list of high-priority items for donation can be found on the City of Coon Rapids website. Visit today to see how you can help make a difference in your community. Remember, your act of generosity can significantly enhance the spirit of the season for those who need it the most.
