Community Raises Over $25,000 for Families After Stewartville Shooting

UPDATE: The Stewartville community has swiftly rallied, raising over $25,000 for families affected by a tragic shooting that unfolded on the morning of December 12, 2025. A GoFundMe campaign initiated by the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club has surpassed its initial goal of $22,000 as residents unite in support.

The devastating incident occurred around 5 a.m. in the parking lot of Stewartville High School, just as the wrestling team was preparing for a tournament in Grand Forks, North Dakota. A student sustained critical injuries, while an adult male was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In a heartfelt message posted on Facebook, the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club expressed their sorrow:

“On behalf of the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club, we are deeply saddened by the tragic event that occurred in our community. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, friends, coaches, and everyone affected.”

Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson confirmed that the motives behind the shooting remain unclear. “We don’t know anything that led up to this at all, at this point,” he stated during a press conference shortly after the event. A further press briefing is anticipated on Monday, promising more details about the ongoing investigation.

Community support has been overwhelming. In addition to the GoFundMe contributions, donations can also be made in person at any Eagle Rock Bank branch under the “Stewartville Wrestling Benefit Account.” Furthermore, Full Court Custom Apparel Inc. is donating 100% of proceeds from shirt sales directly to the victims’ families.

The wrestling community has demonstrated incredible solidarity, with teams from Dover-Eyota, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Century, and Mayo contributing hundreds of dollars to the cause. The Clash National Wrestling Duals also made a significant contribution of $1,000.

As the community comes together to support those impacted by this horrific tragedy, the immediate focus remains on providing financial assistance to the families and healing the wounds left by this incident.
