Community Mourns Beloved Ballston Spa Mayor Christine Fitzpatrick

BREAKING: The community of Ballston Spa is mourning the loss of Christine M. Fitzpatrick, a beloved former mayor and dedicated public servant, who passed away on November 24, 2025. Fitzpatrick, 75, was celebrated for her remarkable contributions to her community and her unwavering spirit.

Born on April 21, 1950, in Manhattan, New York, Fitzpatrick’s legacy spans decades of public service and advocacy. She leaves behind her late husband, David L. Maynard, her loving siblings, and a wide network of friends and family. Known for her lively personality and deep commitment to community welfare, Fitzpatrick served as the first female mayor of Ballston Spa, making significant strides in local governance.

During her tenure, she transformed the village’s finances, turning a $300,000 deficit into a thriving $4.8 million fund balance. Her initiatives in public policy and community engagement have set a precedent for future leaders. Fitzpatrick’s efforts to enhance essential services and promote accessibility have left a lasting impact on the village.

Fitzpatrick’s career was nothing short of extraordinary. She held various positions, including an elementary school teacher and a public servant at the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in Washington, D.C. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, December 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa.

In honor of Christine Fitzpatrick’s legacy, the family requests donations be made to the Friends of the Ballston Spa Public Library, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, or The Community Hospice.
