Colorado Women’s Basketball Ends Road Skid with Win Over Kansas State

URGENT UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team has just secured a pivotal victory, defeating the Kansas State Wildcats 56-47 at Bramlage Coliseum on January 29, 2026. This win marks the Buffs’ first road victory of the season, snapping an eight-game losing streak in away conference games.

In a thrilling finish, Colorado outscored Kansas State 18-6 in the final 7 minutes, 5 seconds of the game. Zyanna Walker, a standout player who previously played for K-State, delivered a clutch three-pointer that ignited a decisive run for the Buffs. “Lots of different people contributed, as we should,” said CU head coach JR Payne.

The Buffaloes (14-7, 5-4 Big 12) showcased strong defense and rebounding, out-rebounding the Wildcats 41-33 and forcing them into a dismal shooting night of 32.7% (16-of-49). Walker led the charge with her second career double-double, posting 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, along with four steals.

Logyn Greer also played a crucial role, contributing 11 points and six rebounds, while Jade Masogayo added another 13 points and seven rebounds. The balanced scoring from the team was pivotal, as they executed well under pressure, a stark contrast to previous games where they struggled in the fourth quarter.

The game was tightly contested, with neither team leading by more than eight points through the first three quarters. Colorado pulled ahead early in the fourth, but Kansas State responded with an 8-0 run to take the lead at 41-38. However, the Buffs quickly regained control, with critical plays from Greer and Walker sealing the victory.

“This was a tremendous amount of work from Zy, especially after her injury,” Coach Payne noted. “She was excited to return and perform well in front of her friends and family here in Manhattan.”

Next up, the Buffs will face Kansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. MT on ESPN+, looking to build on this momentum. With this win, Colorado not only boosts their standings but also instills confidence as they navigate the remainder of their Big 12 schedule.
