UPDATE: A routine traffic stop in Chino Hills exploded into a significant drug bust on October 16, 2023, leading to the arrest of three local residents on serious narcotics charges. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reported that deputies initiated the stop due to traffic violations at the intersection of Rolling Ridge Lane and Glen Ridge.
During the stop, officers discovered that vehicle occupants Michael Aguilar and Tanya Camacho were carrying methamphetamine. The investigation quickly expanded, prompting deputies to search a nearby residence on Laguna Court. There, they found Camacho’s children with their grandmother, Mary Rodriguez, who has outstanding warrants linked to narcotics offenses.
As Aguilar was being arrested, deputies uncovered additional methamphetamine and items suggesting the sale of drugs. These findings triggered a search warrant for Rodriguez’s home, yielding more drugs and paraphernalia. Rodriguez, who has a history of convictions, faces charges under Proposition 36, potentially leading to enhanced sentencing under new legal provisions.
Aguilar was booked on HS11378 charges, while Camacho faces charges under HS11377. Following the arrests, the children were left in Rodriguez’s care, illustrating the troubling intersection of family and substance abuse.
