BREAKING: Castaic girls’ flag football head coach William Jones has just been honored as the 2025 LA Rams Coach of The Year, an accolade presented during the Rams game on Sunday. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding coaches in the CIF’s Southern California sections and includes a $4,000 donation to finalists.
Jones led the Coyotes to their first-ever playoff appearance, finishing the season as CIF Division 5 finalists with a remarkable 15-11 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Foothill League play. The team’s fourth-place finish secured a historic postseason berth, marking a significant milestone for the program in its inaugural season.
In a heartfelt statement, Jones expressed his gratitude:
“It’s super exciting winning this award and being recognized by the Los Angeles Rams and the NFL, who support and invest in the growth of girls’ flag football. This was a total team award.”
His leadership helped five Coyote players earn all-league honors, with Pyper Ormes, Charlotte Wheeler, and Larkin “Lu Lu” Smith receiving all-CIF selections.
Jones credited his success to the teamwork and dedication of his players and coaching staff:
“I couldn’t do it without the 22 amazing young ladies I had the privilege to coach, my outstanding assistant coaches, the school and Castaic community.”
This recognition comes at a pivotal moment as the Coyotes look to build on their success heading into the offseason and prepare for the 2026 season. The impact of this award extends beyond just accolades; it emphasizes the growing support for girls’ flag football and the community’s commitment to developing young athletes.
Fans and supporters are eager to see how this achievement will inspire future generations of players in Castaic. With this momentum, the Coyotes are poised to make even greater strides in the coming years, showcasing the power of teamwork and community support in high school sports.
