Beloved Jeanne Ruth Passes Away; Services Scheduled for Nov. 8

BREAKING NEWS: Betty Jean “Jeanne” Ruth has passed away peacefully at Diamond Willow in Cloquet, MN, surrounded by her family on October 29, 2025. This beloved community member and cherished mother leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched countless lives.

Born in Alexandria, Minnesota, on March 23, 1952, Jeanne was the youngest of four children. She spent her formative years in ORR, MN, and later graduated from Proctor High School in 1970. Jeanne maintained strong ties with her high school friends, frequently attending reunions and nurturing lasting relationships throughout her life.

Jeanne met her husband, Norman “Norm” Ruth, in 1973, and they married on May 4, 1974. They shared an incredible 36 years of marriage before Norm’s unexpected passing in 2010. Together, they celebrated the birth of their son, Ryan, and built a life filled with adventures, including travel and outdoor activities.

A proud grandmother, Jeanne’s grandsons, Alex and Eli, were her greatest joy. They shared memorable experiences, including season tickets to UMD hockey games, and her face would light up with every visit.

Jeanne’s professional journey began at Travelers Insurance and included significant roles at the Duluth Builders Exchange and Arrowhead Builders Association. She concluded her career at State Farm Insurance, retiring in 2016. Known for her kindness and welcoming demeanor, Jeanne was a cherished friend to many, earning the title of best friend for countless individuals.

Her family and friends will remember Jeanne for her elegance, love for the arts, and the special moments she created for those around her. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and several family members, leaving a profound impact on all who knew her.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 8, at Grace Lutheran Church. The visitation begins at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM. A gathering will take place afterward, allowing friends and family to share stories, honor her memory, and celebrate her life with love and gratitude.
