URGENT UPDATE: Auditions for the beloved musical “Annie” are taking place on December 13, 2023, at the Mineral Area College (MAC) Fine Arts Theater. This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring performers to showcase their talent in a production that has captivated audiences for generations.
The auditions will kick off at 10 a.m. for actors aged 14 and under, followed by those aged 15 and up at 3 p.m.. Callbacks are scheduled for December 14 at 6 p.m. at the MAC. Participants must prepare a 60- to 90-second song and provide their own accompaniment track, which must be compatible with a Bluetooth speaker. Note that acapella auditions will not be accepted.
Those interested in auditioning should expect to receive an audition preparation bundle via email, which includes character monologues and choreography videos. Attendees are advised to wear appropriate dance attire and come ready to perform both dance routines and monologues.
The available roles span a wide array of characters, including Annie, Warbucks, Grace Farrell, Miss Hannigan, and several ensemble parts. This production promises to be a thrilling experience, with rehearsals slated to take place on weekdays from January 5 to February 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.. Performances are set for February 26-28 at 7 p.m. and March 1 at 3 p.m.
Director Kaity Conaway expressed her excitement about bringing “Annie” to the stage. “I’m super excited to get to direct ‘Annie’ because it’s one of the first movie musicals I remember watching as a kid,” Conaway stated. She emphasized her eagerness to explore the musical’s dynamic choreography. “Annie has so many fun opportunities for choreography, both dance and just organized movement,” she added.
This marks a new chapter for Conaway, who is directing outside of the Farmington School District for the first time. She is eager to experience the unique challenges and rewards that come with directing a different theatre production.
