Allentown Father Charged with Murder in 2012 Child Abuse Case

BREAKING: An Allentown man has been charged with third-degree murder in a shocking case linked to child abuse dating back to 2012. Authorities from Bensalem Police confirmed today that Kyle Hinkle, 38, is now facing severe charges after the abuse suffered by his infant son ultimately led to the child’s death in August 2024.

The tragic events began in October 2012, when Hinkle’s infant son was hospitalized at Aria Torresdale due to severe injuries that raised red flags for abuse. Medical professionals diagnosed the child with bleeding in the brain and retinal hemorrhages. Following a CAT scan, doctors found injuries in various healing stages, indicating a history of trauma.

Bensalem Police were alerted by the Bucks County Department of Children and Youth regarding the case. After extensive medical evaluation, experts confirmed that the infant’s injuries were consistent with abusive head trauma, caused by significant force.

In a devastating admission, Hinkle confessed to violently shaking his son multiple times in an attempt to stop the child’s crying without properly supporting the infant’s head. Initially, he pleaded guilty to charges of Aggravated Assault, Endangering the Welfare of Children, and Simple Assault, resulting in a two-year prison sentence and an additional three years of supervised parole.

The recent autopsy findings, however, prompted the Bucks County District Attorney to pursue murder charges against Hinkle. Today, a warrant was issued by District Justice Michael Gallagher, leading to Hinkle’s arrest at his workplace with the help of Allentown Police.

Hinkle has been arraigned and is currently held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on a bail of $2,000,000, set at 10%. The community is reeling from this heartbreaking revelation, as additional details about the case continue to unfold.

This case highlights the ongoing battle against child abuse and the critical need for protective measures for vulnerable children. As authorities continue their investigation, the public is urged to remain vigilant and report any signs of child abuse.
