Alabama Faces Chilly Start as Cold Front Moves In; Warmup Ahead

UPDATE: A significant cold front has just swept into Alabama, plunging temperatures into the 30s and 40s tonight. As the work week kicks off on November 6, 2023, residents are bracing for a chilly start, with frost advisories in effect across the northern regions.

The National Weather Service reports that while some areas in northeast Alabama could see light rain today, most of the state will remain dry. Expect temperatures only reaching the mid-50s in parts of northern and central Alabama.

As the sun sets, a sharp drop in temperatures will occur, with lows expected to fall into the upper 30s in the north and low to mid-40s in the south. Frost is a real possibility, especially in areas north and central Alabama, with forecasters warning that even southern counties could experience patchy frost.

However, the weather outlook is set to change dramatically. Starting Tuesday, a warmup is forecasted, with temperatures surging back into the 60s and 70s by mid-week, and potentially reaching the 80s for southern Alabama by the weekend.

The National Weather Service anticipates no significant precipitation until at least Friday, when the northern parts of the state may see low chances of rain. By Friday, high temperatures are expected to range from the low 70s in the north to the upper 70s and low 80s in the south.

The Climate Prediction Center has indicated that from November 9-15, Alabama will likely experience above-average temperatures, with probabilities ranging from 40% to 60% for warmer than usual conditions, particularly in western Alabama.

Residents are urged to prepare for the cold tonight while looking forward to a warm and pleasant weekend ahead. As the weather shifts, stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service for any changes in forecasts.
