Kansas State Wildcats wide receiver Jayce Brown is set to visit the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, as the program seeks to bolster its roster through the NCAA Transfer Portal. Reports from On3 Sports indicate that Brown, who is currently ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver in the Transfer Portal, has garnered significant interest from several top-tier programs, with LSU emerging as a leading contender.
Standing at 6 feet and weighing 180 pounds, Brown had a standout season in 2023, recording 712 receiving yards on 41 receptions, along with five touchdowns. Over his three-year career with the Wildcats, he amassed more than 2,100 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns from over 100 catches. This impressive performance has attracted attention not only from LSU but also from other prominent programs such as the Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, Auburn Tigers, Kentucky Wildcats, and Louisville Cardinals.
LSU is actively seeking to fill gaps in its receiving corps following the departure of four wide receivers to the free agent market and additional exits to the NFL Draft. Alongside Brown, the Tigers are also expected to host Terrell Anderson, a wide receiver from the North Carolina State Wolfpack, for a visit shortly. Anderson emerged as a key player in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), recording 39 catches for 629 receiving yards and five touchdowns during the 2023 season. Over two seasons with the Wolfpack, he accumulated 53 receptions for 787 receiving yards and six touchdowns, making him a highly sought-after prospect in the Transfer Portal.
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is keen on enhancing the team’s competitive edge and is actively pursuing multiple top prospects as part of the recruitment strategy. Speaking on December 1, 2023, Kiffin emphasized the importance of a solid recruitment plan, stating, “There’s a great plan here of how we can come together with what we bring and with what players around the country want to play for us and our systems.”
Kiffin highlighted the necessity of financial support in attracting talent, noting, “Without good players, [systems] don’t work.” The recruitment strategy aims not only to secure players but also to ensure they are well-compensated, reflecting the evolving landscape of college football.
As the Tigers prepare for their upcoming season, the potential addition of high-caliber players like Brown and Anderson could significantly impact their offensive strategy and overall success on the field. LSU’s active engagement in the Transfer Portal underscores the urgency to adapt and strengthen the team amid a changing roster.
With Kiffin at the helm, LSU is set to make a mark in the competitive landscape of college football, seeking to recruit top talents who can contribute to the program’s goals. The upcoming visits from Brown and Anderson will be pivotal in shaping the future of the Tigers’ offensive lineup.
