Remembering David Anthony Gilles: A Life Devoted to Family

David Anthony Gilles, aged 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on October 15, 2023. His family, including his wife, Nancy Erd, and their four children, were by his side during his final moments.

Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, California, David was the son of William and Carol Gilles. He graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and pursued further studies at community colleges in Torrance, California, and Pasco, Washington. In 1980, he married Nancy and subsequently moved to Richland, Washington, where they raised their four children: Darlene, Wendy, David, and Heather.

David began his career at the Hanford Nuclear Site, starting as a bus driver. Over the years, he progressed through various management roles, ultimately retiring as the Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms. His dedication and hard work earned him respect among his peers and a lasting legacy in the community.

In 2023, David and Nancy relocated to Sandpoint, Idaho, to enjoy their newly built home, an embodiment of their dreams and aspirations. Described as a tireless provider and caregiver, David was known for his patience and unwavering support for his family. He had a reserved demeanor, but those close to him appreciated his quick wit and clever sense of humor.

David was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife, Nancy; his four children; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, William, and sister-in-law, Roni. His family remembers him not just for his work ethic, but for the love and laughter he brought into their lives.
