AMD and Robotec.ai Forge Partnership for Autonomous Robotics Innovation

AMD Silo AI has announced a strategic collaboration with Robotec.ai, a developer specializing in simulation platforms for robotics applications. This partnership aims to enhance the capabilities of digital twin and scenario reconstruction workloads for advanced automotive and robotics systems that utilize AMD’s Instinct GPUs and the ROCm software stack. The collaboration aligns with Robotec.ai’s commitment to creating safe, human-centric robotic solutions using open-source, AI-driven simulation tools.

Enhancing Robotics Development with Open-Source Tools

The collaboration builds on Robotec.ai’s existing work with the AMD Kria System on Module (SOM). It integrates Robotec.ai’s flagship RoSi platform, an end-to-end solution for the development, training, and testing of robotics and autonomous systems, with AMD’s scalable computing platforms. This combination is expected to significantly improve the performance of LiDAR and radar simulations through Robotec.ai’s RoSi Sensors, which leverage the RGS ray-tracing library for optimized GPU performance, enabling the rapid testing of intricate multi-sensor configurations.

According to Michal Niezgoda, CEO and co-founder of Robotec.ai, “Open source empowers customers to evaluate technology on their own terms, inspect code for cybersecurity, and benefit from a community that validates and improves solutions.” He further emphasized the drawbacks of proprietary solutions, stating, “With proprietary solutions, you’re dependent on a single vendor’s roadmap and priorities. With AMD Silo AI, we can scale our platform to meet the growing demand from our customers.”

Building a Robust Ecosystem for Robotics

Both companies are dedicated to expanding the robotics ecosystem by fostering open-source solutions and accelerating development cycles. This partnership also paves the way for potential academic collaborations and contributions from third parties. Peter Sarlin, CEO and co-founder of AMD Silo AI, commented, “The collaboration with Robotec.ai underscores a shared commitment to open-source innovation. This commitment empowers customers with digital sovereignty and seamless portability of GPU workloads—enabling safer, more efficient robotics systems across diverse hardware and environments.”

This partnership exemplifies AMD Silo AI’s broader strategy to create an open ecosystem for autonomous systems and robotics. The company has also previously partnered with Parallel Domain, working alongside leading names in autonomous driving and robotics to integrate best-in-class software with cutting-edge GPU infrastructure.

In a significant move, AMD and Robotec.ai are also collaborating on testing the capabilities of the first fully autonomous warehouse robot. This robot will utilize agentic AI capabilities to dynamically plan and execute tasks in real time, without reliance on rigid scripts, operating solely on AMD Ryzen AI processors designed for embedded systems.

By leveraging its extensive experience in end-to-end computing solutions that include safety-critical edge devices, digital twin platforms, and AI cloud infrastructure, AMD Silo AI is determined to enhance access to high-performance robotics simulation on a global scale. Notably, Silo AI was a Finnish AI lab acquired by AMD in 2022, marking a significant expansion in AMD’s capabilities within the AI and robotics sector.
