Former President Donald Trump has initiated a campaign challenging the validity of executive orders signed by his successor, Joe Biden, alleging that Biden’s use of an autopen to sign documents undermines their legitimacy. This assertion came during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House on September 25, 2025.
Trump took to social media to declare that any document signed by Biden using the autopen, reportedly around 92% of his signatures, is null and void. In a post on Truth Social, he stated, “I am hereby cancelling all Executive Orders, and anything else that was not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden.” He further claimed that the individuals operating the autopen did so illegally and threatened perjury charges against Biden should he assert otherwise.
Biden has publicly denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he made all significant decisions during his presidency. The current President characterized Trump’s claims as unfounded, labeling them as attempts to undermine his authority. In response to Trump’s accusations, Biden remarked, “There is no cover-up here; I have been in charge.”
Trump’s fixation on Biden’s use of the autopen has been evident for some time. He has previously suggested that the reliance on the device indicates a lack of control and presence in the Oval Office. In March, he pointed out that Biden’s extensive use of the autopen rendered his actions “null and void,” intensifying his criticism of the current administration.
The former president has also called for an investigation into the usage of the autopen, connecting it to his broader narrative questioning Biden’s cognitive abilities. Trump’s campaign against Biden’s executive actions has raised concerns and questions regarding the administrative processes and legitimacy of signed documents from the previous administration.
As this controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen how it will impact Biden’s presidency and his executive agenda moving forward. The political landscape continues to be charged as both leaders navigate their respective positions and the implications of these claims.
