The Springfield Public School concert choir has received a prestigious invitation to perform at the annual convention of the Minnesota Music Education Association on February 13, 2024, at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Under the direction of Bailey Cords, the choir will present a program themed “Rise Together in Song—Celebrating Music Education in a Rural Community.” This event marks a significant achievement for the choir, which previously performed at the same convention in 1993.
In addition to the choir’s accolade, several students from various institutions have been recognized for their academic achievements.
Academic Accomplishments Across Institutions
At Iowa State University in Ames, Brenden Paul Humbard from New Ulm graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science during the fall semester. This accomplishment reflects a dedication to academic excellence in a competitive field.
Meanwhile, Catherine Cummings of Mankato has been named to the fall dean’s list at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. This honor is awarded to students who maintain a minimum semester grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, showcasing her commitment to her studies.
At Western Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Saige Isaacson from New Ulm achieved a place on the president’s list of high distinction for the fall term. To qualify, students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while completing six or more credits in an associate’s degree or technical diploma program, a significant accomplishment that highlights her academic dedication.
Additionally, Emily Frutos Krueger from Mankato earned recognition on both the dean’s list and the president’s list at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. The dean’s list recognizes students achieving a grade-point average of at least 3.0, while the president’s list is reserved for those maintaining a GPA of 3.75 or higher, reflecting outstanding academic performance.
These achievements collectively illustrate the commitment to excellence in education among students in the region.
