Kylie Kelce, a prominent figure in the public eye, has announced her decision to transition from breastfeeding to formula feeding her youngest daughter, Finn. In a candid discussion on the December 18 episode of her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, she shared insights into her weaning process, revealing the challenges she faces.
Kylie Kelce, a mother of four, explained that her journey toward weaning Finn has not gone smoothly. “Weaning is not going great because … it’s not going,” she stated, adding that Finn is on the verge of cutting a tooth. “As selfish as this may sound, that’s where I draw the line. Aggressively. That’s aggressively where I draw the line.”
Reflecting on her experiences with her older daughters, Kylie noted that she has breastfed each of them for approximately seven to eight months. “I’ve never breastfed a child past them getting teeth,” she disclosed, emphasizing the personal nature of her choices. She acknowledged that discussions around breastfeeding often remain taboo, yet she believes in bringing these topics into broader cultural conversations.
In a previous episode of her podcast, she offered a humorous yet pointed piece of advice for those around breastfeeding mothers: “Act natural.” This casual approach underlines her commitment to making the discourse around motherhood more open and relatable.
Kylie has breastfed Finn for longer than her other daughters, and she is now preparing to introduce formula as she weans her. She expressed gratitude for her ability to breastfeed, recognizing that not all mothers have the same opportunities. “Some people who want to cannot, so it’s important to recognize that,” she stated.
Notably, she highlighted her oldest daughter, six-year-old Wyatt, as an example of how feeding choices do not dictate a child’s development. “Anyone who has an opinion about how I choose to go about my breastfeeding journey, and therefore my formula-fed journey, you can kindly get f—–,” she asserted. “You knew it was coming. And also, fed is best. Let me say it one more time for emphasis: fed is best.”
Kylie Kelce’s frankness about her motherhood journey resonates with many, as she continues to challenge societal norms surrounding parenting choices. Through her platform, she not only shares her personal experiences but also advocates for a broader understanding of what it means to be a mother in today’s world.
