First Baptist Church of Humboldt has announced the launch of free breakfast services on Sunday mornings, supported by a generous $6,000 grant from the Central Region of the American Baptist Churches. This initiative aims to provide community members with a warm meal and a welcoming environment over the next two years.
The breakfast program will commence at 9 a.m. every Sunday, taking place in the assembly room located at 218 N. Seven St. Limited parking is available in the alley on the south side of the church, while additional parking can be found in the lot on the north side.
Discussions about establishing a breakfast program began during conversations regarding the grant application. The funds will be administered on a monthly basis, with church deacons emphasizing that no financial contributions are expected from participants, ensuring the service remains accessible to all.
Each week, the menu will feature biscuits with sausage gravy and mixed fruit, along with beverages for attendees. This new initiative is reminiscent of a similar project run by the Iola Presbyterian Church, which offers soup suppers on Sunday evenings twice a month.
The First Baptist Church community hopes this program will provide much-needed support during challenging times, fostering a sense of togetherness and relief. All individuals are welcome to attend, regardless of their denomination or faith, highlighting the church’s commitment to inclusivity and community service.
