Community Mourns Loss of Connie Strobel, 87, Beloved Mother and Volunteer

PUEBLO, Colo. — Connie Strobel, a cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on July 28, 1938, in Great Bend, Kansas, she was the daughter of Mylert and Wanda Pryor. Connie’s life was marked by love, family, and a deep commitment to her community.

Connie met her husband, John Strobel, in 1953, and the couple married in 1958. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their two children, Karen Bienhoff and Michael Strobel. Connie was known for her unwavering dedication as a wife and mother, always prioritizing her family’s needs.

Passions and Community Involvement

Connie’s interests extended beyond family life. She had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying activities such as golfing, bird and squirrel watching, and fishing at San Isabel Lake. Gardening was another of her loves, where she was particularly proud of her homegrown tomatoes. Connie also found joy in mushroom picking along 12 Mile Road.

Her generosity was evident in her extensive volunteer work. Connie dedicated many years to serving at the St. Patrick Church office and with the St. Mary Corwin Hospital Auxiliary. Throughout her life, she formed lasting friendships with several families, including the Charlifues, the Fasulos, and the Von Kalbens, who will remember her warm smile and kind heart.

Connie is survived by her children, Karen Bienhoff and Michael (Heather) Strobel, as well as her nieces Heather, Tracy, Anna, and Lori. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, and her brother, Ken Pryor.

Farewell and Legacy

The family expressed gratitude towards the staff at Rivaria, formerly known as Brookdale, for their compassionate care during her last two years. Their kindness and dedication made a significant difference in Connie’s life.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for December 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Pueblo, Colorado. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. on January 6, 2026, at Great Bend Cemetery, with Father John Stang presiding over the service.
