Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Honors New D.A.R.E. Graduates

A ceremony at Cox Mill Elementary School celebrated the graduation of students from the D.A.R.E. program on December 12, 2023. The event highlighted the students’ commitment to making healthy choices and the importance of early education in drug and violence prevention. The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office expressed pride in the achievements of the young graduates, emphasizing their hard work and dedication.

The D.A.R.E. program, which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, aims to equip young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to resist peer pressure and make informed decisions. Under the guidance of School Resource Officer Deputy April McCraven, the students engaged in activities that reinforced the lessons of the program. Deputy McCraven played a pivotal role, not only as a law enforcement officer but also as an educator and mentor.

In their social media announcement, the sheriff’s office stated, “We are incredibly proud of these students for their hard work and commitment to making positive, healthy choices.” This sentiment reflects the community’s support for initiatives that promote youth wellness and safety.

The ceremony served as a reminder of the vital role that programs like D.A.R.E. play in fostering a positive environment for children. It also underscored the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and educational institutions. Deputy McCraven’s efforts were particularly noted, as she took on the dual responsibilities of guiding students in their understanding of the dangers of drugs and violence.

As the graduates move forward, they carry with them not only the knowledge gained through the program but also a sense of responsibility towards their peers and community. By instilling these values at an early age, the D.A.R.E. program aims to create a foundation for healthier choices throughout their lives.

The success of the ceremony and the program as a whole demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Cabarrus County community to support its youth in navigating challenges and making positive decisions.
