Auburn University’s linebacker Xavier Atkins has been recognized with three significant postseason honors, solidifying his reputation as one of college football’s standout players. The accolades include selection to the Football Writers Association of America All-America Team, the AFCA coaches All-American team, and the Walter Camp All-American team. This achievement makes Atkins the first All-American linebacker from Auburn since Karlos Dansby in 2003 and the first overall since Roger McCreary in 2021.
Atkins, who transferred to Auburn after a season at Louisiana State University (LSU), had a remarkable sophomore year. He led the Tigers with 84 tackles and achieved an SEC-best 17 tackles for loss along with nine sacks. His performance earned him the title of the highest graded linebacker in the nation by Pro Football Focus, scoring an impressive 91.7. In addition, he ranked third among SEC players for both tackles and sacks, demonstrating his defensive prowess throughout the season.

Atkins excelled specifically in SEC matchups, tallying 13 tackles for loss during league play, a figure that led the conference. His consistent performance led him to become the first true linebacker to receive First Team All-SEC honors for Auburn since Deshaun Davis in 2018.
