New Iberia Drummer Joins 1,000 for Rockin’1000’s U.S. Debut

New Iberia native Brittany Migues is set to showcase her drumming skills as part of Rockin’1000, a global music initiative featuring 1,000 musicians. The performance will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on January 31, 2026, marking the project’s U.S. debut. This collaborative concert emphasizes community and the shared experience of live music.

Founded in 2015 by Fabio Zaffagnini in Cesena, Italy, Rockin’1000 started as an effort to attract the Foo Fighters to his hometown. It has since evolved into a worldwide movement with over 100,000 musicians participating. Migues learned of her selection in mid-December and described the moment as surreal. “I initially just kind of sat there in disbelief like, ‘Is this actually happening right now?’,” she recalled, expressing gratitude for the years she dedicated to music.

For Migues, this opportunity represents a significant milestone. “It feels like a full-circle moment,” she stated. Having watched previous Rockin’1000 performances online, she knew she had to be part of the inaugural U.S. show in her home state.

Migues began drumming at the age of eight, influenced by her musical family and community. Without formal lessons, she refined her skills through listening and playing, which allowed her to develop a unique style. “Learning without formal lessons forced me to rely on my ear and instincts from a very young age,” she noted.

Throughout her teenage years, she performed in church and gained experience with her band, Double Knockout, as well as the all-girl punk band Suffrage. Each musical setting provided valuable lessons that she believes have prepared her for the upcoming performance at the Superdome. “All those experiences combined have helped me stay grounded and adapt quickly,” Migues said.

She attributes her musical journey to the vibrant culture in New Iberia and South Louisiana. “If you’re from New Iberia, you know music is everywhere,” Migues explained. This rich environment has reinforced her belief that music is accessible to everyone.

Rockin’1000 emphasizes unity and shared energy rather than individual accolades. “It’s about locking in and listening to each other,” she said, highlighting the excitement of creating music as one collective heartbeat.

Zaffagnini expressed enthusiasm about bringing Rockin’1000 to New Orleans, a city renowned for its musical heritage. “Hosting our first stadium show in a city with such a deep musical history is a real honor for us,” he remarked.

Walt Leger III, President and CEO of New Orleans & Company, called the upcoming performance a landmark event. “I truly believe Rockin’1000’s U.S. debut in New Orleans will be a once-in-a-lifetime performance,” he stated, emphasizing the lasting impact it will have on attendees.

Migues views her participation in Rockin’1000 as a stepping stone in her ongoing musical journey. “I hope this experience is just a milestone in my journey, not the finish line by any means,” she affirmed.
