Halle Bailey and her ex-boyfriend DDG have reached a temporary agreement concerning the custody of their one-year-old son, Halo. This decision comes after a turbulent few months marked by a custody battle and mutual allegations of domestic violence. The pair agreed to drop their restraining orders and establish a co-parenting arrangement, as outlined in a stipulation filed on Monday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
This development follows a series of escalating tensions between the two musicians, who dated from 2022 until their split in October 2024. In court documents, Bailey claimed that DDG had been abusive throughout their relationship and continued to exhibit troubling behavior post-breakup. She requested that he be ordered to stay away from both her and their son, asserting, “Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me.”
In response, DDG, whose real name is Darryl Granberry, sought his own restraining order against Bailey. He accused her of emotional instability and alleged that she posed a risk to their child’s safety during periods of distress. Court records indicate that both parties are required to “immediately dismiss” their previous restraining order requests but retain the option to file new ones if necessary.
Under the new custody agreement, Bailey will have physical custody of Halo, except on Wednesdays and certain weekends. The stipulation also includes specific arrangements for holiday celebrations and birthdays. Additionally, both parents must refrain from posting any information or images of Halo on social media platforms, addressing a notable point of contention that arose after their breakup. Friends and family are also prohibited from sharing details about the child online.
The couple’s relationship has been closely followed since they made their red carpet debut at the 2022 BET Awards. Bailey, who has often expressed her affection for DDG, described their romance as her “first deep, deep, real love.” Despite their past struggles, both parents have indicated a commitment to co-parenting.
As Bailey navigates family matters, she is also focusing on her career. The singer recently released her debut solo album, Love?…or Something Like It, which she describes as a narrative of first love, heartbreak, and the complexities that follow. This multifaceted approach reveals her resilience as she balances personal and professional challenges.
As the couple moves forward, they aim to co-parent Halo amicably, prioritizing their child’s well-being while managing their individual lives and careers.
