George Strait Announces Two Surprise Shows in Austin This April

Country music icon George Strait has surprised fans with the announcement of two performances at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, scheduled for April 9 and April 11, 2024. This marks his return to the state-of-the-art venue, where he was the inaugural headliner during its opening in April 2022, an event that featured renowned acts such as Willie Nelson & Family and the Randy Rogers Band.

The upcoming shows will be Strait’s first public performances since a record-setting concert in College Station in 2024, which became the largest ticketed concert in U.S. history. His only appearance since then was an intimate benefit concert in Boerne following the devastating Fourth of July events in 2025.

In addition to his extensive catalog of hits like “Amarillo by Morning” and “You Look So Good in Love,” Strait will promote his latest album, Cowboys and Dreamers. He will be joined by rising country star William Beckmann, who is known for blending traditional country with elements of red dirt and 1950s pop, reflecting his Del Rio upbringing. Beckmann debuted his significant label album, Whiskey Lies & Alibis, in June 2025.

With a career spanning decades, George Strait remains a towering figure in country music, known not only for his profound influence on the genre but also for his remarkable sales record, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
