Jerry Lee Bailey, a cherished member of the Kitts Hill community, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 67. Surrounded by family, he departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and friendship.
Born on October 16, 1958, in Lawrence County, Jerry was the youngest of 16 children born to the late Hazel Layne Bailey and Ernest Bailey. His family ties were strong, and he was preceded in death by several siblings, as well as his grandson, Brenden Lee Bailey; step-grandson, Nicholas Chaise Kuehne; and stepson, Adam Chaise Kuehne.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Karen McDonie Bailey, whom he married on August 17, 2006. He leaves behind his son, Jeremy Bailey, and stepsons, Johnathon Kuehne and Stephen Kuehne. He was a proud grandfather to Lynzi Bailey, Brooklyn Bailey, Ivy Kuehne, and Samuel Kuehne, who will carry forward the memories of their beloved grandfather.
A Life of Service and Community Involvement
A graduate of Rock Hill High School in 1978, Jerry had a fulfilling career as an HVAC technician, retiring from Campbell Heating & Air in 2020 due to health issues. His passion for fishing and visiting flea markets showcased his easygoing personality, which endeared him to many friends in the local community.
Jerry was a dedicated member of the Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where he embraced his faith and found comfort in the gospel. His contributions to the church and the community were significant, and he was known for his warm spirit and generous heart.
Funeral services will take place at Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday. Family visitation is scheduled from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service for friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral will commence at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Stephen Kuehne and Jeremy Shamblin officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church or the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Funeral arrangements are being managed by Phillips Funeral Home, located at 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.
