Baton Rouge’s Pecue Lane I-10 Interchange Set for Spring 2026 Opening

The construction of the Interstate 10 interchange at Pecue Lane in Baton Rouge is progressing as planned, with an expected opening in spring 2026. The project, managed by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), aims to enhance traffic flow and accessibility in the area, particularly for patients and visitors to Woman’s Hospital.

Initiated in 2017, this extensive project involves widening Pecue Lane from two to four lanes between Perkins Road and Airline Highway. Once completed, Pecue Lane will feature two lanes in each direction, providing direct access to both the eastbound and westbound sides of I-10. Additionally, a new bridge over Ward Creek is being constructed to facilitate improved traffic movement.

As part of the ongoing work, crews are currently focused on installing traffic signals, a critical component of the interchange. According to a DOTD spokesperson, this phase of construction is essential for ensuring safe and efficient traffic patterns upon the interchange’s completion.

The project also includes the recent extension of Rieger Road to intersect with Pecue Lane, further enhancing connectivity in the region. This new intersection has already opened, serving to alleviate congestion and improve access for local drivers.

The Pecue Lane interchange is part of a broader strategy to improve infrastructure in Baton Rouge. By enhancing major roadways and facilitating better access to key locations, the DOTD aims to support economic growth and reduce travel times for residents and visitors alike.

As the project continues toward its anticipated completion date, local officials and community members are optimistic about the positive impact it will have on traffic conditions and access to essential services.
