A significant contribution of $250,000 from Unison Bank has catalyzed the establishment of a vibrant new community hub at the University of Jamestown. This funding has enabled the creation of The Well Coffee Shop, which opened this fall within the newly inaugurated Reuben and Clarice Liechty Center for Faith and Life.
The Well is designed to be more than just a coffee bar; it is positioned between the historic Voorhees Chapel and the Badal Nafus Student Union, quickly emerging as a central gathering place for both students and community members.
Creating a Space for Connection
“It is a special place for the campus and community to enjoy,” said Brett Moser, vice president of development and alumni relations. He expressed gratitude towards Unison Bank for their role in making this vision a reality. “The generosity of others turned the space into something meaningful and enjoyable for decades to come.”
The Well embodies the university’s faith-based mission, serving as a modern-day “well” where individuals can gather for refreshment, reflection, and spiritual growth.
Kelly Rachel, president and CEO of Unison Bank, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond just providing coffee. “We were excited about creating a space where students feel cared for, energized, and supported. When students have a place that nourishes both their minds and spirits, they’re more equipped to dream bigger, work harder, and build the futures God is calling them toward,” Rachel stated.
Unison Bank’s Commitment to Community
Founded in 1965, Unison Bank has a longstanding tradition of supporting educational and community initiatives. Rachel outlined the bank’s philosophy: “We give back because helping others achieve their dreams is at the core of who we are.”
She further articulated the bank’s goal of fostering a culture of intentionality among students, encouraging them to pursue their callings with confidence and build a supportive community.
As students gather at The Well, they not only enjoy coffee but also share ideas and forge friendships. The university notes that this new space is quickly becoming a venue where students can pause, pray, and connect with one another while contemplating the deeper aspects of their college journeys.
