Denver’s annual Christkindl Market is celebrating its 25th anniversary at its new venue, the Tivoli Quad located on the Auraria campus. The relocation from Civic Center Park allows the market to accommodate over 40 vendors and larger crowds, enhancing the festive atmosphere that has drawn thousands over the years.
The market is known for its diverse selection of food and goods, with vendors offering both traditional and unique items. Vendor Leon Speth noted the enduring popularity of classic treats, stating, “Everybody’s always hungry for a pretzel.” Meanwhile, Josh Bryant, who sells European-inspired foods, highlighted one of his specialties: “We do Schmalzkuchen, which is a German donut, a very popular classic Christmas dish in Germany at the Christmas markets.”
In addition to culinary delights, the market showcases a variety of artistic offerings. Vendor Blair Hamill shared, “I’m selling posters of various places—national parks, ski resorts, places that people love to visit and create emotional memories for those folks who see the art.” This mix of cultural experiences helps to foster a sense of community among vendors and patrons alike.
The move to the Tivoli Quad has been positively received. Samantha Seems, executive director of the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado chapter, remarked that both vendors and visitors appreciate the new space. “We’re seeing that people are really excited to be in this new space. They have more room to spread out,” she said. Last year, the market attracted approximately 350,000 visitors, and organizers anticipate an even larger turnout this year.
Vendors express a deep sense of camaraderie, with many having participated for years. “We’re like a family around here,” said Bryant, reflecting on the long-standing relationships he has built with other sellers over his eight years at the market. The festival atmosphere draws both returning visitors and newcomers, with Hamill noting, “A lot of people come and have a good time.”
The Christkindl Market is open daily, running through December 23, 2025. It promises to continue its tradition of celebrating holiday cheer while supporting local businesses and fostering community connections. Visitors can expect a vibrant mix of cultural experiences that reflect the spirit of the season.
