Early Life and Education

Born in 1957 to James and Joan McGowan, Timothy was the third of six siblings in a family that traced its roots back to Irish immigrants. In 1966, the McGowan family relocated to Maywood, New Jersey, where Timothy spent his formative years and attended Our Lady Queen of Peace School. His journey continued in 1971 when the family moved to California, eventually settling in the San Fernando Valley in 1972. He graduated from Chaminade High School, maintaining a strong connection to the community throughout his life.

Career Achievements

McGowan began his career in the entertainment industry in 1985 when he joined Columbia Pictures as a research analyst. Over the years, he advanced to the position of Vice President of Research at CBS/KCAL-9, where he was known for his insightful contributions to the network’s programming strategies.

In 2010, after a 25-year hiatus, he returned to the theatre, appearing in numerous productions in the Santa Clarita area. His passion for the arts was evident, and he dedicated himself to the stage while also pursuing further education, earning two Associate of Arts degrees.

McGowan’s life was marked by significant personal milestones as well. In 1987, he married Susan McDermott, with whom he had two sons, Matthew and Morgan, born in 1989 and 1992 respectively. After their separation, he reconnected with Pamela Meyer, a classmate from Chaminade, and they formed a devoted partnership that lasted over 15 years, enjoying travels around the globe together.

Health Battles and Legacy

In 2022, McGowan successfully battled duodenal cancer, showcasing his resilience and determination. Unfortunately, in late 2024, he received a diagnosis of leukemia, which ultimately led to his passing. He is survived by his partner Pam, his sons Matthew and Morgan, and his siblings, Terry, Jim, Colleen, and Cathy. His family and friends remember him fondly for his unwavering love and support, as well as his remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry.
