Riot Games Unveils Riftbound: Spiritforged Expansion Details NOW

BREAKING NEWS: Riot Games has just announced exciting details for the upcoming expansion, Riftbound: Spiritforged, set to launch in English on February 13, 2026. This highly anticipated release follows its debut in China on December 12, 2025, and promises to bring new Champion Legends, fresh mechanics, and enhanced collectability to players around the globe.

12 Champion Legends will headline the expansion, featuring fan favorites including Rek’Sai, Draven, Irelia, and Lucian. The set introduces three innovative mechanics: Equipment, Gold, and Repeat. Equipment cards can now attach to units, remaining in play even if the unit is defeated, while Gold tokens linked to champions like Draven and Renata offer flexible power generation. Players can amplify their strategies with Repeat spells, allowing them to pay a card’s cost a second time for enhanced effects.

Riot Games has stated that Spiritforged will blend the steelwork themes with the mysticism of Ionia’s Spirit Blossom universe, significantly influencing both card design and champion identities. The expansion also enhances collectability with Spirit Blossom–themed alternate art, 30 Overnumbered cards, and 12 Champion Units added to the Overnumbered series.

At the recent PAX Unplugged event, Riot shared a glimpse of what’s to come, including Signature variants for select Overnumbered cards and new synergies linking Spiritforged with previous sets like Origins. Game director Dave Guskin emphasized the importance of community feedback from the launch of Origins in shaping this new expansion.

Looking ahead, Riot Games confirmed the next three sets for 2026: Unleashed in May, followed by Vendettas in Q3, and Radiance later in the year. Unleashed will introduce new Champion Legends such as Vi, Rengar, and Master Yi, while Vendettas will explore long-standing rivalries featuring champions like Akali and Mel.

Additionally, Riot Games announced a series of competitive opportunities with 12 Regional Qualifiers planned throughout 2026. The first English Regional Qualifier will take place in Houston, Texas, from December 5–7, followed by events in Bologna, Italy, from February 20–22, and Las Vegas, Nevada, from February 27–March 1.

Guskin remarked,

“We learned a tremendous amount from how players engaged with Origins. Spiritforged builds on that foundation with new Champion Legends, new mechanics, and even greater collectability. We can’t wait to see what players create next.”

With the gaming community buzzing, all eyes are on Riot Games as they prepare to unveil more details and developments surrounding Riftbound: Spiritforged. Be sure to stay tuned for updates as the launch dates approach!
