Five Arrested in Fairbanks for Major Illegal Gambling Operation

URGENT UPDATE: Five individuals were arrested in Fairbanks, Alaska, late Friday night following a significant crackdown on an illegal gambling operation. The Fairbanks Police Department (FPD) reported that officers seized over $55,000 in gambling equipment and $45,053 in cash from two locations, confirming the operation’s illicit activities.

The police investigation revealed numerous “casino-style ‘fish table’ machines” and “Fire Kirin” gambling games at 510 Old Steese Highway and 1521 Stacia Street. Both venues featured cash-based payouts and maintained detailed records of wins and losses. According to the FPD, signage outlining ‘house rules’ further indicated these establishments were operating without licenses.

“Evidence from both sites, including matching financial logs and electronic spreadsheets, showed that the two addresses were coordinated as a single operation,” the FPD stated in a press release. This coordinated effort highlights the extent of the illegal gambling enterprise, which has raised concerns among local authorities.

Among those arrested are Fairbanks residents Pilisega Filivaa Jr., David Irae Lefau, and Montgomery Finau Kuresa Jr., along with Marley Etisone Liulama and Richard Taupea Fola from Kent, Washington. All five face multiple charges, including promoting gambling and possession of gambling devices. Filivaa, Kuresa, and Fola received additional charges.

This operation’s dismantlement is a significant victory for law enforcement in Fairbanks, aiming to curb illegal gambling activities that threaten community safety and integrity. Local residents are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities.

As the investigation continues, updates will follow on any further developments regarding charges or additional suspects. The Fairbanks Police Department is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all citizens in the community.
